Mechanical Engineering students succeed in National AI Innovation Competition

Earlier this month, Associate Professor Ke Wende of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering led a group of undergraduate and postgraduate students to the 2019 National Competition on Artificial Intelligence Innovation among Universities that recently took place at Southwest Jiaotong University. The team won the first prize in AI+ transportation and second prize in AI+ intelligent manufacturing.

This year’s competition had a theme of “AI Smart Creation for a Better Future.” Over three days, students competed in ten different contests that covered different popular AI fields. The competition remains one of the most popular AI competitions in China.

More than 550 teams from 110 universities across the country took part in the competition, including teams from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology.
