Last week saw thousands of people from across the world descend on Shenzhen for the 2019 Shenzhen International Biotech & Healthcare Summit and Exposition (BT2019). As part of BT2019, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the International Forum (Forum) on Intelligent Health, Industry, Education and Research. The forum was chaired by Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) Assistant Professor Zhang Minging and Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering (MEE) Associate Professor Fu Chenglong.

The Forum is dedicated to building a platform for communicating, learning and integrating for industry-university research platforms. It aimed to display the latest cutting-edge technologies in intelligent health and human engineering, while promoting the integrated development of high-end industry with related disciplines.

A wide range of academicians and fellows from around the world gave key note speeches on biorobotics, including flexible exoskeletons, interactive robots, wearable nerve sensors, social robots, artificial intelligence and microrobot cell operating systems.

SUSTech has been working on the integration of interdisciplinary science, engineering and medical education. BME has been working hard in intelligent rehabilitation engineering, with several faculty members receiving funding for top projects.
