On April 9th 2017, the two-day “Aesthetic and Cultural Creativity” academic forum came to an end in the room 401 of SUSTech’s Administration Building. Invitees included major domestic colleges and university representatives, newspapers and media editors and nearly 50 scholars who had gathered for the event. SUSTech’s Vice-Chairman Li Fengliang attended the closing ceremony.
The forum was jointly organized by SUSTech’s Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, the Asia-Pacific Leisure Education and Research Center of Zhejiang University, the Aesthetic Society of Chinese Aesthetics and the Aesthetics Institute of Capital Normal University. Under the thematic banner of “Aesthetic and Cultural Creativity”, experts and scholars focused on topics such as creative thinking, creative environments, creative design, and shared ideas on the aesthetics of cultural and creative industries, including their prospects on the economy.
Li Fengliang delivered a speech at the closing ceremony and spoke highly of the forum. He stressed that in SUSTech’s admission system, innovation, art and social responsibility hold an important place. He also said that first-class science and engineering colleges must have first-class humanistic arts education. SUSTech has always attached great importance to the development of humanities, social sciences and art disciplines in the belief that these fields cultivate a richer personality and their study can stimulate scientific thinking. He concluded by saying that he hoped more outstanding art and humanities science students can join SUSTech to build a comprehensive and richer education environment.
During the closing ceremony, two calligraphers were invited to the stage to showcase their art in accordance with the forum’s theme. Zhou Yongming, Director of the Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, welcomed the organizers and guests and thanked them for their presence.
