On April 13th 2017, the Baoan People’s Hospital (Group) party secretary, Dean Huang Juke and his entourage visited SUSTech to explore the current status on brain science research and discuss plans of future cooperation. SUSTech Chairwoman Guo Yurong, President Chen Shiyi and Vice-President Wu Chuanyue greeted the guests and accompanied them throughout the tour.

During the talks, the two sides carried out in-depth discussions on clinical-oriented neurological engineering research, high-end medical international cooperation and clinical medical cooperation education. The discussions led to a consensus in a number of areas to develop closer ties and build a strong cooperation plan.
A number of high profile members accompanied the guests including Professor of Neurosurgery Yu Huitian, Professor Zheng Yong, Director of the Institute of Brain Science Research Hou Shengtao, Director of Materials Science and Engineering Department Cheng Xin, Director of Biomedical Engineering Executive Chen Fangyi, Medical School Deputy Dean Zhang Jian just to name a few.
Background information: Shenzhen Baoan People’s Hospital, also known as the Eighth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen, is a national three-level general hospital. Established in 1984, it caters to various forms of care including medical, prevention, health care, rehabilitation, scientific research and contributes to teaching and training along with Guangdong Medical University, Southern Medical University Hospital, Guangdong Province Higher Medical School Teaching Hospital and the Sun Yat-sen University post-doctoral research base.
The hospital covers an area of 63 000 square meters and a construction area of 144,000 square meters. It is one of the largest comprehensive hospital in Shenzhen, with 1 200 open beds, 26 functional departments and 51 clinical medical departments.
Shenzhen Baoan District People’s Hospital Group is made up of the Bao’an District People’s Hospital, Shiyan People’s Hospital and the undergoing construction of the Bao’an District Eye and Ornate Stomatological Hospital, as well as 27 community health center.
