Last weekend, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the host venue for the Translational Medicine Summit (Summit). It was hosted by the Technology Transfer Center (TTC) and the School of Medicine at SUSTech, as well as the Shenzhen Council for the Promotion of Biomedical medicine. The Translational Medicine Summit sought to focus on technological innovation and the advancement of the transformation of results.

Top scholars and industry leaders attended the Summit. SUSTech Acting Vice President Zhao Yusheng gave a briefing about SUSTech, focusing on the development of its medical discipline.

The Summit discussed a wide range of cutting-edge translational medical issues, including those relating to tumors, drug development and medical diagnoses. It was an opportunity for attendees to present new concepts and technologies to a wider audience for use in research institutes, enterprises and universities. The Summit was also a platform for integrating different innovative and transformational resources under an open communications platform that promotes exchanges between different experts to jointly promote medical care development.

The experts and scholars discussed further refinements of the platform and expand industry-university research cooperation. They also examined ways to identify research priorities, to clearly define the directions for substantive scientific research cooperation.

Translational medicine is the vital connection between basic medical research and clinical treatment. It has opened up a revolutionary way for developing new drugs and treatment methods that promotes the transformation of basic molecular medical research into the most effective and appropriate disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prevention models.
