SUSTech’s stadium naming ceremony took place during the “Song He Capital’s 10^th Anniversary” celebration of Shenzhen Green Pine Capital Partners Co. Ltd. The investment group who donated 5 million yuan to the university’s Education Fund will have the SUSTech stadium named “Songhe Stadium ” after its Chinese name. It also co-organized along with SUSTech and the local government adminstration the “Science and Technology Relay Marathon”. Green Pine Capital founding partners Li Wei and Luo Fei, SUSTech President Chen, and Department of Chemistry professor Liu Ke attended the event.

The opening ceremony

During the ceremony, Professor Chen expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Green Pine Capital for supporting the university’s Education Fund and mission. Chen said that SUSTech greatly benefited from the support of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, allowing it to develop at remarkable speed in a period of just 5 years. The university’s core values “Knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship” are taking form now with the multiplication of academic-professional partnerships such as this one with Green Pine Capital, paving the way to general education reforms in Chinese higher education.

As in most world-class universities, SUSTech attaches great importance to sports in the comprehensive development of its students, “A passion for sports, ready to compete” is the spirit of the university’s approach when it comes to physical education, considering that it plays a key role in team-building, healthy competition and sports research.

Li Wei said that China is at a key stage in terms of innovation and development, and Green Pine Capital has always been a driver of technological progress and innovation. SUSTech as a test ground for national comprehensive reform of higher education, is the ideal partner to cooperate with his investment fund since both parties can establish a complementary and innovation centred partnership.

President Chen makes keynote speech

The opening ceremony of the event celebrated the achievements of the university, with President Chen making a keynote speech to introduce the innovative operational system and the future ambitions of the university at home and abroad.
