Academic Exchanges at the “Internet and Information Technology Forum” held in SUSTech

On April 24th 2017, after more than a month of careful preparation, the Ninth Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan doctoral students “Nanshan Academic Forum” organized the “Internet and Information Technology Sub-forum” here at SUSTech. While the university has been co-organizing the forum for many years, this was the first time it was hosting it on its campus. Renowned scholars, outstanding doctoral students and graduates gathered to talk about academics and discuss softwares, computers, automation and various other key topics in the field.

Among the notable guests attending the event were:

– Shenzhen University professor Jiang Jianmin

– Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Research Director Liu Hong

– British Institute of Higher Education and SUSTech Graduate School Vice President Yang Shuanghua

– American Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and SUSTech Chair Professor from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Georgios Theodoropoulos

– Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts Professor Stavros Didakis

The first talk was presented by Pr. Jiang Jianmin and entitled “Internet information dissemination of media data and related scientific research on the impact and challenges” followed by five shortlisted doctoral reports as annexes. Pr. Stavros Didakis then took to the stage to go on with his thematic report.

The forum was divided into the main forum talks, a sub-forum for exchanges, paper posting and finally a “Excellent Paper” award. Nine outstanding doctoral students shared their academic papers in front of the audience, and Professor Yang Shuanghua concluded by announcing the results. SUSTech doctoral student Li Xiaoyang won the first prize.

This sub-forum also attracted doctoral students from the National University and outstanding graduate students who enrolled after a screening of more than 50 students. The successful candidates had carefully prepared academic papers and reports related to Internet and Information Technology. After the screening process, the top papers are displayed on campus and the forum’s venue.
