On April 28^th 2017, Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Green Synthesis Professional Committee’s inauguration ceremony will be held at SUSTech, where they will introduce their key technology road map and strategy. Chairman of the Shenzhen Life Science and Biotechnology Association Yuan Qing, vice-president of the University Council Li Fengliang, academician Liu Ke, Shenzhen Food and Drug Administration Director of Drug Safety Supervision Yuan Binhua and the leaders of the departments and pharmaceutical companies involved attended the meeting.

Yuan Qing’s speech

At the meeting, Yuan Qing gave a speech in which he expressed his gratitude to SUSTech for their support and congratulated the university on the establishment of the expert committee. It will provide a platform for resource-sharing among the experts in the industry and provide guidance to the government as a third party.

Li Fengliang’s speech

At the meeting, Li Fengliang followed up with a presentation of SUSTech and its development. He said that the university was a pioneer in national reform of higher education, and responds to the need for Shenzhen to create an international and innovative university. Simultaneously, the university will carry out in-depth, pragmatic and effective exchanges and joint projects with Shenzhen’s pharmaceutical companies, to strengthen the link between the two circles, which will be mutually beneficial for both parties in terms of production and research.

The opening ceremony

Shenzhen Food and Drug Administration’s Director of Drug Safety Supervision Yuan Binhua said that the prospects for the biomedical industry in Shenzhen were very exciting. He said that the innovation of the pharmaceutical industry will significantly help its development. Subsequently, Li Fengliang and Yuan Qing unveiled the plans for the Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Green Synthesis Professional Committee.

At the meeting, the Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Green Synthesis Professional Committee invited Zhang Xumu as the chief scientist of the committee and awarded him the key position within the group.

Zhang Xumu introduces the Committee’s road map

Zhang Xumu introduced the road map and strategy to follow, explaining that the health industry has large growth potential and drug synthesis is one of the most important production areas of our time. Based on the new technologies available for drug synthesis as well as a wealth of experience and outstanding research in the city of Shenzhen, we can expect significant innovations and breakthroughs in the areas of green synthesis of pharmaceuticals and industrialization.

In recent years, the world pharmaceutical manufacturing industry has been transferring to China, with global output of chemical raw materials for the production surpassing 1 trillion yuan. China’s raw material production capacity and export now ranks first in the world, with Shenzhen holding a key position in the area, seeing a rapid development of the biomedical industry. The Shenzhen Life Science and Biotechnology Association is setting up the Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Green Synthesis Professional Committee in order to strengthen the research and development with the aim of further building on Shenzhen’s position in the global pharmaceutical industry.
