Biology Professor selected as ASBMR Fellow

The American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) recently held its Annual Meeting, which saw Professor Xiao Guozhi from the Department of Biology at Southern University of Science and Technology selected as an ASBMR Fellow. He was the only mainland scholar selected for this honor in 2019.

The Fellow of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) program recognizes long-term ASBMR members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of bone and mineral science. The program is committed to recognizing the breadth and diversity of the Society’s membership. Preference will be given to individuals who have shown a commitment to ASBMR by having served as a volunteer in the Society or as a Society representative to another organization or initiative. Fellows are nominated by their peers, followed by evaluation and selection by a review committee.

Professor Xiao Guozhi is also the director of Zhicheng College and director of the Laboratory Animal Research Center. He has long studied the molecular basis of bone development and bone diseases (osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, etc.) and made many original discoveries in the study of bone cell formation and differentiation. He has published more than 110 articles in the world’s leading academic journals. Xiao Guozhi is a member of the editorial board of international academic journals such as J Bone Miner Res and J Biol Chem, and a reviewer of 45 international magazines.

The American Association for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) is a professional scientific and medical association that brings together clinical and experimental scientists in bone and mineral metabolism research. It aims to promote the development of bone, mineral and musculoskeletal Sciences worldwide, and promote the transformation of basic and clinical research to improve human health. ASBMR has about 4000 members worldwide and has global influence in basic research and clinical application of orthopedics.
