Earlier this week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) invited a delegation from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to campus. PolyU Vice President Professor Philip C. H. Chan led the PolyU delegation, and met with SUSTech Acting Vice President Zhang Dongxiao and School of Microelectronics Dean Professor Yu Hongyu. Officials from both PolyU and SUSTech also attended the meeting.

SUSTech Acting Vice President Zhang Dongxiao talked about the many times SUSTech and PolyU had cooperated with each other in the past, focusing on the potential for complementary research in microelectronics. Joint laboratories for the Greater Bay Area that are centered on microelectronics could provide a platform for moving into further disciplines in the future.

PolyU Vice President Professor Philip C. H. Chan talked about PolyU, pointing out that they could carry out many forms of cooperation with the SUSTech School of Microelectronics due to their mutual advantages in unique fields.

There were also in-depth discussions on joint training of doctoral students and exchange opportunities in microelectronics before negotiating their cooperation intentions.

SUSTech School of Microelectronics Dean Yu Hongyu gave a briefing about the School of Microelectronics, noting the support of it by governments of all stripes and its approval to be a National Exemplary School. He hoped that there would be high-quality cooperation between the two universities.

Before the meeting, the PolyU delegation visited the 3D campus construction planning sand table, the 3rd Generation Semiconductor Research Institute, the AI laboratory of the School of Microelectronics, and the Clean Room of the Core Research Facilities.
