SUSTech claims first prize in GBA 3rd generation semiconductor competition

November 24 saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) founded enterprise Shenzhen Sitan Technology Co., Ltd. (Sitan Technology) win first prize in the 3rd Generation semiconductor Greater Bay Area (GBA) final of the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest.

Sitan Technology Chairman George Liu (SUSTech Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Assistant Professor) conducted a roadshow of the project, introducing his company’s core advantages in Micro-LED technology. He said that Sitan Technology is committed to promoting and leading development in the Micro-LED industry and working towards mass production of Micro-LED.

On November 25th, Ministry of Science & Technology Department of High and New Technology Deputy Director Cao Guoying and Shenzhen Deputy Mayor Wang Lixin presented the awards at a ceremony, with Sitan Technology Chairman George Liu receiving the first place award.

Background:

Shenzhen Sitan Technology Co., Ltd. was established in October 2018, and jointly established by the research team of Assistant Professor Liu Zhaojun and SUSTech Assets Company. It is a high-tech enterprise whose main business is Micro-LED chip technology and mass transfer technology, covering Micro-LED new display, AR/VR, and 3rd generation semiconductor optoelectronic technology. The company aims to solve the practical problems in Micro-LED technology and industrialization, while integrating high-quality resources to achieve mass production of Micro-LED. The company has built and put into use its first domestic micron-scale micro-LED pilot line of 1200 m2.

 The “China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest International 3rd Generation Semiconductor Competition” operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Science and Technology. This is the 4th such occurrence of the competition, and has attracted nearly 2000 projects, more than 50 scientific research institutes, 100 investment institutions, and more than 100 leading enterprises from over 20 countries and regions around the world.
