SUSTech welcomes three international university delegations to campus

The week of 18 to 22 November was an enormously busy week for the Global Engagement Office (GEO) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), with three high-level research universities representatives coming to learn about SUSTech

On November 18, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Vice Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao and Associate Vice President (International) Thomas Schneider welcomed Dublin City University (DCU) Vice President (External Affairs) Trevor Holmes. Representatives from the Department of Statistics and Data Science, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the School of Medicine also attended the meeting. Vice Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao welcomed DCU students and faculty to Shenzhen for academic and research exchanges.

November 20 saw SUSTech Vice President Lu Chun and Associate Vice President (International) Thomas Schneider greet a significant delegation from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) from the city of Bonn in Germany. The H-BRS delegation was led by Vice President for International Affairs & Diversity Prof. Dr Jürgen Bode, Vice President for Regional Development & Innovation Dr Udo Scheuer, Vice President for Teaching, Learning and Further Education Prof. Dr Iris Groß and Institute for Technology, Resource- and Energy-Efficient Engineering (TREE) Scientific Director Prof. Dr Dirk Reith. SUSTech’s Technology Transfer Center (TTC) had representatives at the meeting, along with GEO, to participate in discussions with this young and energetic research university that pays close attention to the transformation and applications of its scientific and technological research results.

On November 21, Bar-Ilan University (BIU) from Israel was welcomed to SUSTech, with a delegation including Deputy President Prof. Moshe Lewenstein, Bar-Ilan International Academic Head Prof. Rachel Dekel (Louis & Gabi Weisfeld School of Social Work) and Department of Physics Vice Head Yossi Ben-Zion.

As part of their visit to SUSTech, they met with GEO, the SUSTech Graduate School and the Departments of Mathematics and Physics. They also took the opportunity to experience our Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) center and experience the recording of a teaching video.
