On November 30, the Institute of Advanced Social Studies (IAS) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) co-sponsored the Twin Cities & Greater Bay Area Urban Cultural Research Doctoral Forum (the Forum) with Hangzhou Normal University (HNU) Institute for Urban Studies (IUS). The Forum sought to compare urban culture studies between Shenzhen, Hangzhou, and the Greater Bay Area. It examined topics such as urban development and social change.
More than 70 doctoral candidates and young scholars from the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts, HNU-IUS, the Zhejiang University Institute of Tourism, and other top universities around the world participated in the forum.
Center for Social Sciences and Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts Executive Chairman Zhou Yongming spoke at the Forum. He also unveiled the “Workshop on Urban Studies” with his HNU-IUS colleague Wang Guoping. The workshops will take place at SUSTech and HNU-IUS, and rely on the specialist resources of each institution. They would focus on urban science, innovation-driven development, urban internationalization, and other fields to carry out independent research on essential topics to form relevant results.
