On December 4, several undergraduates from Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) represented the University at the finale of the Shenzhen Youth and Integrity Competition, winning both the debating and dramatic competitions on their way to claiming top prize overall. SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang and Student Affairs Director Xue Zheng attended the finale.

The topic for the debate final was, “is it urgent to carry out clean education on campus, or is it too soon?” The SUSTech team was required to carry the view that it was urgent to launch clean education on campus. Their quick thinking and clear arguments saw the SUSTech team win the debate, with undergraduate Tang Chao winning the best debater award.

SUSTech undergraduate students Qin Guoyang, Zhao Hangyu, and Wang Miaochuan gave a dramatic performance of popular sit-com “Father and Son,” which was well-received by the audience. Their performance saw them win first prize in the theatrical performance category.

The Shenzhen Youth and Integrity Competition seeks to encourage honesty for personal and social development. It is sponsored by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau and other government bodies.
