December 4th saw a battle of the minds as Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its 2nd laboratory safety knowledge competition. Five teams of ten people claimed top prizes in the final.
The Office of Laboratory and Equipment Management organized the competition. It seeks to enhance safety awareness among faculty & students while eliminating hidden dangers in the laboratory. More than 200 faculty members and students took part in the qualifying stages of the competition.
Guest judges included Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office Auditor Liu Lianfu, Office of Safety & Environmental Health (OSEH) Director Jiang Xianggui, Department of Biology Party Committee Secretary Yu Chunhong, and Department of Chemistry Associate Professor Xu Zongxiang.
The final consisted of 30 questions. The intense atmosphere saw the lecture theatre full of enthusiasm. The winning teams came from the Department of Chemistry, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, the Department of Biology, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering.
