Vice President Lu Chun leads delegation to 2019 QS Reimagine Education Conference

Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Vice President Chun Lu was invited to speak at the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Wharton Business School’s 2019 Reimagine Education Conference. The 2019 QS Reimagine Education Conference took place between December 8th and 10th at Imperial College Business School and the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London.

Vice President Chun Lu delivered a keynote speech during the gala dinner titled “Welcome from SUSTech” and participated in a panel discussion titled “University Presidents Reimagining Education.”

During the keynote speech, Vice President Lu spoke about SUSTech’s achievements and unique features related to innovation in pedagogy, while analyzing the future of education and e-learning. He emphasized SUSTech’s role in supporting strategic and future sustainable development in Shenzhen, showcasing the rapid evolution of SUSTech during its seven years.

During the panel discussion on reimagining education, Vice-President Chun Lu discussed SUSTech’s innovative approach to undergraduate involvement in faculty research projects from the second year of study onwards and the experiential learning inherent in this. It received praise from the entire panel, including Wharton Business School Emeritus Professor Jerry Wind.

Wharton Business School Emeritus Professor Jerry Wind chaired the panel discussion. Vice President Chun Lu was joined by Ashford University President & CEO Dr. Craig Swenson, Curtis Institute of Music President and CEO Roberto Diaz, Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) President Uriel Reichman, and the University of the Arts President and CEO David Yager.

The Reimagine Education Conference brought together innovators and entrepreneurs in educational technology from across the world to participate in high-quality discussions on topics such as “ICT for Teaching Learning & Support Artificial Intelligence,” “Hybrid Learning Presence Learning,” “Nurturing Entrepreneurship” and “Turning Promise Into Reality: The Future of MOOCs.”

During the Summit, the 2019 Reimagine Education Awards were released, celebrating innovative educational projects from across 16 fields, including AI, e-learning, blockchain and sustainability.
