HK PolyU President leads delegation to SUSTech

On December 18, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed a delegation from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), led by PolyU President (and former SUSTech Vice President) Teng Jinguang. Following a group photo with SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, the PolyU party met with SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Lu Chun, Vice President (Academics) Zhang Dongxiao, Acting Vice President (Research) Zhao Yusheng and other leaders.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi reviewed the partnership between SUSTech and PolyU. He said that there were many similarities between the two universities in terms of their geography, discipline construction, research foci and talent pipeline development. The opportunities for deeper cooperation are substantial and there is enormous potential for both universities to promote each other while providing more future leaders that contribute to society.

PolyU President Teng Jinguang discussed the operations of PolyU and proposed several new areas of cooperation. He spoke about the deep friendship between the two universities and hoped that they would continue to promote broad collaboration at multiple levels.

SUSTech Deputy Vice President Zhang Dongxiao talked about the latest achievements of SUSTech before a range of plans were discussed for collaboration and cooperation.

Following the meeting, the PolyU delegation visited the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center, the Aerospace Propulsion Laboratory, and the Institute of Robotics. Several members of the SUSTech leadership accompanied the PolyU party on their campus tour.
