SUSTech President discusses campus development with students

On December 23, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) President Chen Shiyi headed to the freshmen activity room to meet with undergraduate and postgraduate students. Vice President Zhang Dongxiao joined President Chen Shiyi and other relevant department heads at the meeting.

President Chen Shiyi talked about the progress SUSTech has made in a variety of different aspects. He said that training students are the top priority of SUSTech. Everyone is working together to build a world-class research university, rooted in China.

President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Zhang Dongxiao, and department heads answered many questions from student representatives. President Chen Shiyi talked about openness on campus in response to questions from the students. As SUSTech gets closer to finishing its construction, more and more members of the public will be able to visit campus through scheduled visits.

President Chen Shiyi also spoke about the importance of postgraduate education at SUSTech and their cultural lives. He committed to looking at the student’s suggestions to better use the lawn design around the new dormitory buildings.

President Chen Shiyi thanked the students for their interest in their campus and their university. He will continue to lead the various university units to take care of the SUSTech community by helping the students become the future leaders of the new era. He closed the event by wishing the students a Happy New Year.
