On January 2, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital (SZMCH) unveiled the signing of an agreement to establish a clinical teaching hospital together. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, and Preparatory Office of Affiliated Hospitals Director Wang Pengfei were joined by SZMCH President Yao Jilong and Party Committee Secretary Lin Yihao. High-ranking officials from both SUSTech and SZMCH also attended the signing ceremony.

SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang hoped that the SUSTech-SZMCH clinical teaching hospital would be a fantastic opportunity to seize the historical and unprecedented opportunities from the pioneering demonstration zone of Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area. The clinical teaching hospital would develop new mechanisms and models for women’s and children’s healthcare while promoting first-class international competitiveness in the Greater Bay Area with world-class scientific research achievements and medical services.

SZMCH President Yao Jilong said that SUSTech is a partner that gathers first-class talents, cultivates innovative future leaders and generates world-class academic results. Both sides will develop a high-level research hospital with top-quality medical education and research. They plan to innovate in areas such as industry-medicine integration, international talent pipelines, clinical scientific research, and high-level technological transformation. The SUSTech-SZMCH clinical teaching hospital will see everyone work together for the healthcare benefits of Shenzhen and Greater Bay Area society.

SZMCH was established in 1979 and has developed into a well-known AAA-level maternal and child health care hospital. As a teaching and scientific research institution, it focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of common and difficult diseases in obstetrics and gynecology. SZMCH has created nine specialized disease technology collaboration centers, and promoted the application of a large number of new technologies and projects. It is the only standardized training base in Shenzhen as a national neonatal-perinatal medical specialist. SZMCH has carried out 43 comprehensive research cooperation projects with more than 20 universities around mainland China and the Greater Bay Area.
