SUSTech signs teaching & research agreement with Shenzhen Children’s Hospital

On January 2, Southern University of Science and Technology signed an agreement with Shenzhen Children’s Hospital around teaching and research cooperation. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission Director Luo Lexuan, Shenzhen Children’s Hospital Director Ma Xiaopeng and Shenzhen Children’s Hospital Party Committee Secretary Wen Fenqiu. They were joined by leaders from SUSTech, Shenzhen Children’s Hospital, and municipal government agencies.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi and Shenzhen Children’s Hospital Director Ma Xiaopeng signed the teaching and research cooperation agreement.

Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission Director Luo Lexuan said that the collaboration between SUSTech and Shenzhen Children’s Hospital is a healthy combination of quality health care and superior education in Shenzhen. It will accelerate the cultivation of medical talents in children’s health care in Shenzhen and enhance scientific & technological innovation. Both parties will carry out top teaching and research cooperation in pediatrics while drawing on international medical pedagogic models to develop a first-class medical talent pipeline for the Greater Bay Area and China.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi outlined his expectations for the cooperation, with SUSTech providing a strong back for the improvement of scientific research and pedagogy at Shenzhen Children’s Hospital. The partnership will promote the development of medical industry-university research to build a platform for the application of emerging clinical technologies. The SUSTech School of Medicine will foster outstanding medical talents for the benefit of all parties when it comes to medical education and research.

Shenzhen Children’s Hospital Director Ma Xiaopeng said that Shenzhen Children’s Hospital will set benchmarks against the best children’s hospitals within mainland China and around the world, as part of the broader goal of promoting pediatric health care. The development of a high-level international center for pediatric teaching and research within the Greater Bay Area will benefit all levels of society within Shenzhen, the Greater Bay Area, and China.

Shenzhen Children’s Hospital is the most significant modern comprehensive children’s Hospital and pediatric emergency center in Shenzhen. It integrates medical treatment, health care, scientific research, and teaching within a complete set of specialties. The Shenzhen Children’s Hospital has several provincial and municipal key specialties while employing hundreds of highly-credentialed professionals. It has formed long-term cooperative relationships with many universities throughout the region.
