On January 8 and 9, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) reviewed its departmental performance in 2019. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong and President Chen Shiyi both spoke at the meeting, with leaders and departmental heads in attendance.

Chairperson Guo Yurong reviewed the progress of SUSTech throughout 2019, saying that SUSTech has grown substantially throughout the year. The rapid development of SUSTech is fundamentally intertwined with the efforts of every department on campus. She said this meeting allows every department to learn from each other, as SUSTech develops further in 2020.

Acting Vice President (Research) Zhao Yusheng, Teaching Affairs Director Huang Kefu, and Student Affairs Director Xue Zheng all provided reports on the progress SUSTech made in their specific areas in 2019, and their plans for 2020. Department heads summarized their work in 2019 and outlined their priorities for the year ahead.

President Chen Shiyi closed the meeting by thanking everyone for their hard work throughout the year. The high-quality efforts of every staff member at SUSTech provides an opportunity for everyone to develop further for 2020. He hoped that all stakeholders would work together to concentrate on high-impact efforts that see SUSTech work towards its goal of building a world-class research university.
