SUSTech, HEC Paris establish Joint Institute for Global Management and Entrepreneurship

Following two years of close exchanges and active preparations, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and HEC Paris have achieved a new milestone in their collaborative relationship by establishing the “SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute for Global Management and Entrepreneurship” (SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute).

Both universities will cooperate on research into industrial and business management, education, and training of senior managers as well as innovation and entrepreneurship. SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute will contribute to the technology/innovation entrepreneurship ecosystem of the Greater Bay Area.

The establishment of the SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute on February 23rd marks a vital milestone in the two-year relationship between SUSTech and HEC Paris. It represents an alliance of SUSTech’s academic expertise in scientific and technological innovation with HEC Paris’ knowledge in economics, finance, management science, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

In the past two years, with the strong support of the Chinese and French governments, the leadership and management teams of both institutions have frequently visited to gain a deep understanding of each other. The two prestigious institutions have made the most of their outstanding disciplines and resources to prepare the establishment of a joint institute.

SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute will integrate both knowledge bases and partner network to focus on the needs of international innovation and entrepreneurship platforms. It will also seek to cultivate managerial professionals for cutting-edge technology-centric industries for the industrial transformation of the Greater Bay Area.

SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute will study Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area as it develops Sino-French maker spaces, offering executive development programs (EDP). It will provide training and talent exchanges for international management professionals to accelerate Shenzhen’s industrial transformation while upgrading the local entrepreneurial and innovation ecology of Shenzhen. SUSTech-HEC Paris Institute will also support major national strategies, such as the construction of a pioneering demonstration zone in Shenzhen.

Milestones:

On June 22nd, 2018, the two institutions signed a strategic cooperation agreement witnessed by the French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and Shenzhen vice mayor Min Huang. This officially marked the commencement of cooperation and exchanges between the two institutions.

Background:
