On April 17, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its second meeting on its development history over the last ten years. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO attended the meeting along with former members of the SUSTech Preparatory Office. Communications and Public Relations Director Ling ZHANG chaired the meeting.
Former Shenzhen Education Bureau deputy director Beihan LIANG and former SUSTech Preparatory Office Director Jianling XU were among the many members of the SUSTech Preparatory Office who attended the meeting. They all provided their personal experiences, unforgettable stories, and insights into the efforts to build SUSTech.
Chairperson Yurong GUO thanked them for being pioneers in the preparation of SUSTech. She pointed out that without their efforts ten years ago, there would be no SUSTech today. It laid the foundation for a hundred years of educational strength, and celebrating our tenth anniversary would allow SUSTech to reflect on these memories as it moves forward.
The original members of the SUSTech Preparatory Office thanked Chairperson Yurong GUO for the opportunity to come together and provide their insights as SUSTech continues to develop based on their original ideas. It showed that their efforts were, indeed, worthwhile, and filled them with pride. Former Shenzhen Education Bureau deputy director Beihan LIANG and former SUSTech Preparatory Office Director Jianling XU presented some archival materials from their time in the SUSTech Preparatory Office.
Communications and Public Relations Director Ling ZHANG closed the meeting by saying that the pioneering spirit of the SUSTech Preparatory Office reflected the broader spirit and mission of SUSTech. Everyone at SUSTech must continue to work within that spirit as SUSTech strives to become a world-class research university.
On April 16, SUSTech launched its 10th-anniversary logo and slogan. The archival records that mark the development of SUSTech is a significant project for SUSTech to review and summarize its developmental history over the past ten years.
