SUSTech President guides laboratory development

On April 28, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) President Shiyi CHEN and acting Vice President Yusheng ZHAO went to Innovation Park to assist in the development and upgrades of laboratories.

President Shiyi CHEN and acting Vice President Yusheng ZHAO visited the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering (OSE), the Department of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS), and the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (AAIS). OSE head Yongshun CHEN and ESS head Xiaofei CHEN accompanied Shiyi CHEN and Yusheng ZHAO as they introduced the progress of their new laboratories.

President Shiyi CHEN and the delegation heard about the research progress of the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Marine Archaea Geo-Omics and the Shenzhen Submarine Seismograph Equipment and Engineering Laboratory at OSE. AT ESS, President Shiyi CHEN visited the simulation of the globe. At the AAIS, the delegation visited some crucial scientific research platforms under construction.

The Natural Hydrate Laboratory showed President CHEN and the party an ignition experiment of synthesized combustible ice. The party made inquiries about the applications of combustible ice.

President Shiyi CHEN affirmed the progress of each research project and made some recommendations for the next stage of construction. He hoped that all departments would continue to strengthen their interdisciplinary research to promote commercial applications that contribute to the high-tech development of Shenzhen.
