On June 16, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed a delegation from the Fuguang Community. SUSTech Secretary-General Siqi CHEN and Communications & Public Relations Director Ling ZHANG met the Fuguang Community delegation. It was led by Fuguang Industrial Chairman Xuhong XIE, Community Party Committee Secretary Haixiong YU, and Fuguang Industrial General Manager Yaokun XIE.

As part of the initial establishment plans for SUSTech by the city of Shenzhen, Fuguang Village was relocated to the northwest of the future SUSTech campus. A new commercial housing community was built to resettle the original villagers. On March 8, 2015, the community was inaugurated, with SUSTech presented a plaque to Fuguang Community.

Chairman Xuhong XIE and the party visited the 3D campus construction sand table. Secretary-General Siqi CHEN thanked the delegation for their contribution to the development of SUSTech and its achievements in the last ten years. Both sides spoke about their relationship as well as the integration of university campuses, science & technology parks, and residential communities.

2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of SUSTech. SUSTech will continue to talk to those that had helped build SUSTech, as we aim to recognize the thousands from all walks of life who have contributed to the development of SUSTech. It would also operate as a platform to display its achievements throughout this decade of development and exploration of reform and innovation.
