SUSTech holds annual safety conference

On June 23, Southern University of Science and Technology held its annual safety review meeting in a blended, offline-online mode. Senior leaders in attendance included SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO, President Shiyi CHEN, University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang Li, Vice President Chun LU, Vice President & Provost Dongxiao ZHANG, Acting Vice President Yusheng ZHAO and Acting Vice President Dongfeng GU. Other representatives in attendance were department heads, safety management committee members, and safety officers from across campus.

 

At the meeting, University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO analyzed the challenges behind SUSTech’s work in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. She asked the SUSTech faculty to continue to maintain their epidemic prevention and control work. She pointed out the importance of remaining safe in all facets of life on campus to promote a safe working environment with practical and useful results.

President Shiyi CHEN affirmed the efforts of SUSTech in making it a safe environment for the community to live, study, and work. He hoped that every department would strictly implement SUSTech’s safety policies to build a stable work system. The SUSTech community will work together to provide a safe and healthy community.

Vice President Chun LU reported on SUSTech’s safety work for the last twelve months, which summarized the COVID-19 epidemic prevention & control work conducted by SUSTech. He also spoke about other aspects of campus safety for the past year and work deployment for the next stage.

University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI handed out awards to 17 departments/offices and 29 individuals for their outstanding performance in safety work during 2019-20.
