On June 27, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed a delegation from the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, led by Director Guoping GONG. The delegation was met by SUSTech President Shiyi CHEN and Acting Vice President Yusheng ZHAO.
Other attendees included Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission Party Committee Secretary Xuan QIU, Nanshan District Party Committee Secretary Qiang WANG, and Nanshan District Deputy Mayor Cong LIAN.
SUSTech President Shiyi CHEN welcomed the delegation to campus, saying that the development of SUSTech is inseparable from the support of government at all levels. The School of Microelectronics (SME), as a microcosm of that support between SUSTech and Nanshan District, will continue to focus on major national development strategies. SME maintains its support for relevant disciplines that progress regional and municipal policies. It will continue to develop its talent pipelines in integrated circuits, electronics, and communications in line with the promotion of core technology research. SME will maintain its developments in scientific and technological progress for SUSTech and Shenzhen.
SME Head Hongyu YU reported their progress. SME will further strengthen cooperation with leading enterprises across the Greater Bay Area. They have been striving to solve cutting-edge issues in the integrated circuit (IC) industry. It has contributed to the cultivation of top talents as well as the promotion of scientific & technological progress.
Director Guoping GONG affirmed the progress made by SUSTech and looked forward to its future development. He noted the presence of many high-tech enterprises in Nanshan District that were looking to collaborate with SUSTech and SME, a National Exemplary Institute of Microelectronics. The GDSTC would continue to be an active partner of SME’s research in the IC industry as it integrates closely with regional development policies. He hoped that SUSTech would continue to advance national strategic developmental needs through its strengths in scientific research.
Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission Party Committee Secretary Xuan QIU added that SME would continue to receive strong support from the Commission. There would be continued support on developing IC-related laboratories and carrying out relevant research work.
Nanshan District Party Committee Secretary Qiang WANG said SME would receive the ongoing support of Nanshan District as an innovative scientific research institution of IC. Nanshan District will promote related construction projects to meet the rapid development needs of SME. It would also provide other supporting services and opportunities for industry-university research collaborations.
