On the evening of November 29, Lang Lang, one of the world’s most famous classical pianists and the Goodwill Ambassador of Shenzhen came to SUSTech and brought us with SUSTech 10th Anniversary Concert. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO, President Qikun XUE, students, faculty, and guests from all walks of life enjoyed the concert. Sponsored by SUSTech Education Foundation, the activity was hosted by the Office of Communications and Public Relations.

In the concert, Lang Lang led the audiences into the world of classical music with Beethoven’s For Elise, which was followed by Chopin’s Mazurka, Mendelssohn’s Song without Words, Op. 67 No. 4 in C major ‘Spinning Song’, Schubert’s Moments Musicaux, Bach’s Goldberg Variations, and Mozart’s Turkish March. All of them are familiar to the audiences but have different styles, which presents a feast of music at SUSTech.

SUSTech students also joined the performance with Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2, showing the passion and romance of science and engineering students in addition to preciseness and rationality, as well as the collision and integration of science and art.

Lang Lang congratulated the 10th anniversary of SUSTech. He affirmed the art accomplishment of SUSTech students and said that he felt the collision between music art and science and technology. He hoped he could come back to the University and communicate with lovely students.

At the end of the concert, all the audiences sang the song together while Lang Lang played the song “I love you, China”, expressing their love for our nation.

Lang Lang signed on the concert disc, “SUSTech’s theater is excellent!”
