Recently, Director of SUSTech Center for the Arts Professor Baoyi BI, held the “Beethoven Lieder Recital—To the Distant Beloved” with famous Japanese pianist and Professor of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music Kaori Kitamura to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. The concert was staged at Shenzhen Mountain View Theatre.

Visiting Professor of SUSTech Center for the Arts gave a wonderful introduction to the concert with Baoyi BI singing and Kaori Kitamura playing the piano. The concert was an important part of the series for the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth in the classical music season of Shenzhen Mountain View Theatre. In the concert, the two artists performed Beethoven’s well-known repertoires, such as An die ferne Geliebte, Der Kuss, Ich liebe dich, Adelaide, Mailied, Sehnsucht, and Drei Gesänge von Goethe, making the audiences immersed in the romance of classical music.

It is reported that, as a way to get  the classical music closer to the public, Baoyi BI was invited by Shenzhen Daily to share the knowledge of German and Austrian music. She also held a public lecture with the theme of “Beethoven’s Art Songs: the Secret of Time” with Yibing ZANG and Kaori Kitamura, which was highly praised and loved by artists and the general audience.

SUSTech Center for the Arts will also take this concert as an opportunity to bring more valuable aesthetic education courses and art practice experience for teachers and students in more diversified forms.
