SUSTech holds seminar on improving scientific and technological achievements

On the morning of March 19, 2021, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held a seminar on improving the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements. Yusheng ZHAO, Acting Vice President of SUSTech and Dean of SUSTech Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, attended the seminar and made a speech. Wei LI, Founding Partner of Shenzhen Songhe Capital, Hongxia DONG, Deputy Director of the National Center for Science and Technology Evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Yan WANG, Dean of the Technology Transfer Center of Tsinghua University, were also in attendance.

More than 50 people were invited to attend the seminar, including the heads of relevant departments at SUSTech and local institutions in Shenzhen, to discuss effective ways to improve scientific and technological achievements.

Yusheng ZHAO said that SUSTech has made huge progress since its establishment ten years ago. He also noted that this year marks the first year of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and it is necessary for SUSTech to further enhance its scientific and technological achievements, to meet the requirement for the development of industries.

Wei LI, Hongxia DONG, and Yan WANG all made speeches at the seminar, sharing their experiences in scientific and technological achievements and practical experiences of technology transfer.

During the session, an in-depth discussion on the criteria for pre-patent application evaluation, ownership reform and income distribution, and industrial R&D technology support were held. Zuotai ZHANG, Director of the Technology Transfer Center (TTC) at SUSTech, presided over the seminar.
