On March 27, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held the opening ceremony of the 2021 Spring Games at the Green Pine Stadium. Dongxiao ZHANG, Vice President and Provost, Chunmiao ZHENG, Director of SUSTech Global and a member of the Presidential Executive Council, Mingzhao XING, Dean of the School of Medicine, Ling ZHANG, Director of the Office of Communication and Public Relations (CPR), along with heads of various departments, faculty members and students attended the opening ceremony.

Dongxiao ZHANG gave an opening speech at the ceremony and encouraged everyone to embrace the beautiful weather and actively participate in outdoor activities. He said there is an important link between education, sports, and health, and that the Spring Games provide the perfect opportunity to combine all three.  

The Games combined elements such as sports, education, entertainment, etc. They consisted of six team events, five individual and six family-themed events, with more than 1,200 people participating in them.

SUSTech continues to promote more athletic activities among its members. The University feels the integration of sporting activities into the daily lives of students will positively enhance their education and health going forward. The games were jointly organized by the SUSTech Sports Centre and Shude College, and co-organized by the Student Affairs Department, the Graduate School, the Student Union, and the Shenzhen Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association.
