Recently, Professor Shengtao HOU, Associate Chair of the Department of Biology in the School of Life Sciences at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) in recognition for his contributions to biomedical sciences.
Professor Shengtao HOU’s research contributes to our understanding of how neurovascular coupling works in the brain. His team generates innovative experimental strategies to regulate neural circuits and develops new drugs for treating brain diseases. He led a joint international team to carry out deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease.
The RSB is one of the most influential biological organizations in the world. It promotes life science-related activities with the aim of advancing education and professional development in biology.
