On April 22, 2021, the Department of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held a series of activities to celebrate the 52nd World Earth Day, an annual event held to raise awareness for environmental protection. It was co-organized by the Graduate Association of the ESS.

The activities gathered interest from many faculty members and students who participated throughout the day. There was a campus treasure hunting activity and there were also gifts offered in exchange for plastic bottles. It was an incentive to encourage more people to recycle their goods.

There was also a painting activity where people could draw and color on canvas bags to depict the natural scenic views that they have witnessed previously. The events created a buzz around the campus and helped to highlight the importance of protecting the environment.
