On July 16, 2021, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and the Guangming District People’s Government of Shenzhen held a contract signing ceremony at Guangming District Public Service Platform. Both sides will cooperate in research and basic education.  

Sheng LIU, Party Secretary of Guangming District Committee, Ying CAI, Guangming District Mayor, Yurong GUO, University Council Chairperson of SUSTech, and Chun LU, Vice President, attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Feng ZHANG, Director of the Guangming District Government Office.

Ying CAI spoke highly of SUSTech’s achievements and the talent training model of the High School Affiliated to the Southern University of Science and Technology (HSAS).

She familiarized everyone with the construction and development of Guangming District and the needs and achievements of Guangming District in basic education. She said that the District would collaborate with SUSTech to create a better future for university-district cooperation. She added that the collaboration between both parties should bring rewarding results.

The cooperation between the two parties will promote the development of basic education in Guangming District and contribute significantly to the growth of a comprehensive national science center in the Greater Bay Area.

Yurong GUO said that signing the basic education cooperation agreement with Guangming District is an excellent start to broaden further cooperation between SUSTech and Guangming District.

SUSTech is focused on contributing to basic education by exploring new education models for the era of personalized internet and exploring new paths for basic education and higher education through training.

In this joint project with Guangming District, the HSAS will be used to inject vitality into education resources and contribute to the development of the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone in Shenzhen.

Vice President Chun LU and Zongping ZHANG, Deputy Mayor of Guangming District, signed the contract as representatives of both parties.

In the strategic agreement, the two parties will establish new international scientific research institutions and cooperate to construct schools with scientific and technological characteristics. SUSTech will rely on HSAS to promote high-quality basic education development in Guangming District.

Qin YE, Secretary-General of the SUSTech Education Foundation, Peidong WANG, Principal of HSAS, heads of related departments from SUSTech, and leaders from Guangming District Committee and government departments, also attended the ceremony.
