From July 17-18, 2021, the final review of the 16th Challenge Cup Science and Technology Competition in Guangdong Province was held online. Eleven projects from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) won prizes, seven of them awarded to undergraduate students and four to master’s students.

The participating teams of SUSTech demonstrated their project results through video and physical display and explained their work to the judges. After fierce competition, a total of eleven projects from the University stood out, winning one first prize, two second prizes, and eight third prizes in the provincial competition.

SUSTech attaches great importance to the Challenge Cup competition and aims to guide students through the competition to become more knowledgeable about science and scientific methods.

Before the competition, the Student Career Center of SUSTech coordinated with the University’s Youth League Committee and other organizations to provide support. They set up the software and hardware environment according to the competition requirements, organized the online rehearsal and test, provided logistical support, and accompanied the participating students throughout the process.

The Challenge Cup is a national college students’ extracurricular academic competition that is co-sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Ministry of Education (MoE), All-China Students Federation (ACSF) and local provincial governments.

It is one of the top innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, known as the “Innovation Olympics,” for college students in China.
