The 16th (2021) Chinese Academy of Management Annual Conference was held at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) from November 5 to 7, 2021. Many domestic and foreign management experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs participated in the conference both online and offline.
The conference was hosted by the Chinese Academy of Management and the Fudan Premium Fund of Management, with the theme of “Innovation Management and Innovative Responsibility”.
The event was organized by the College of Business at SUSTech, and co-organized by the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University and its Shenzhen branch, the School of Management at Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Big Data Accounting and Decision-Making Research Center of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and the Business School of Sichuan University.
Jinghua ZHAO, Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Management, presided over the opening ceremony. In his remarks, he said that the global economy is facing unprecedented challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
He noted that this year’s conference would focus on the theme of “Innovation Management and Innovative Responsibility”, sharing ideas, jointly exploring global-frontier topics, and making innovations in management research in the new era.
Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), said that the conference strengthened communications between the experts, faculty members, and students from SUSTech and other institutions at home and abroad. He added that he looks forward to enhancing management science in China and developing first-class management talents for national growth.
Zhenhuai GAO, Executive Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Policy Advisory Committee, recognized the development and achievements of SUSTech’s College of Business. He pointed out that the conference has brought together many management experts and scholars and hopes they will take this opportunity to contribute towards the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone.
Other speakers at the conference included Delin WU, Party Secretary of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Zuoyi LIU, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Management Sciences from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and Academicians Yong SHI and Wei’an LI, Co-Chairpersons of the Chinese Academy of Management.
Many experts also gave keynote presentations around the theme of the conference and subjects relating to academic development. They included Shuming ZHAO, Chair Professor and Honorary Dean of the School of Business at Nanjing University, Richard Watson, Regent Chair Professor at the University of Georgia, Wei ZHANG, Chair Professor at Tianjin University, and Weihua MA, former president of China Merchants Bank, and Wei HUANG, founding dean of the College of Business at SUSTech.
During the event, 49 forums were held to discuss 28 organization and strategic management areas, business intelligence, technological innovation and management, and government strategy, etc. Around 350 papers were discussed at the conference, with 15 pieces winning the Excellent Paper Award.
The Chinese Academy of Management is one of the largest high-level comprehensive academic conferences in management in China. It aims to strengthen cooperation and exchanges among management expects, promote the development of management science research, and improve the level of management practice in China.
Each year, the event attracts more than a thousand experts and scholars from the management field nationally and globally, as well as representatives from the government and different industries.
