On November 30, the sub-forum on information and communications technology (ICT) of 2021 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application was held at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Nearly 200 scholars and experts from our university and other universities at home and abroad, as well as relevant leaders of high-tech enterprises in the field of ICT attended the event. The conference was held in a combination of both online and offline.
Xueming YANG, Academic of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Acting Vice President and Dean of the College of Science at SUSTech, Ming LI, Director of International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI), and Jinjun LI, Division Chief of Exchange and Cooperation Office of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, gave opening speeches at the conference.
With the theme of ‘Connection, Communication everywhere’, the sub-forum aims to promote the integration of production, education, research, and application in ICT with countries along the Maritime Silk Road route and take advantage of the academic resources from SUSTech and ICT industries in the region.
Twenty-five academicians and experts from counties and regions such as Australia, the United States, Italy, India, and Hong Kong gave keynote speeches. The conference intends to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation with the relevant science and technology industries of countries on the Maritime Silk Road.
The 2021 Maritime Silk Road International Conference will hold 15 sub-forums in multiple provinces and cities around China, including Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Yunnan. Participants joined the sub-forums and shared ideas on topics such as Ocean Technology and Engineering, Future Display Technology, Green Intelligent Equipment Technology, and Electronic Information Engineering.
Scholars from various countries will conduct in-depth discussions and promote international industry-university-research-application cooperation and the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
