The results of ISC 2022 Student Cluster Competition (ISC22 SCC) were recently announced at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) held in Hamburg, Germany.
The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Supercomputing Team finished in third place in the online section, which is the University’s debut at the ISC.
The competition problems included optimization and acceleration of the open-source high-performance computational chemistry software NWChem, the next-generation global numerical weather prediction and climate modelling system ICON, the high-order finite-difference flow solvers Xcompact3d and its performance optimization program Coding Challenge, as well as social media presentations and interviews.
The captain of the SUSTech Supercomputing Team is Yiqi ZHANG, a 2018 undergraduate student of the Department of Biology. The team is made up of five undergraduates: Yingwei ZHENG, Tong YUAN, Qingyuan FAN, Xiao JI, and Yiling LUO. As a result, this group has become one of the few university teams in China that have participated in three major international supercomputing competitions and won honors.
The ISC Student Cluster Competition is organized by the ISC Steering Committee and is the world’s oldest and Europe’s most significant forum for the HPC, machine learning, and high performance data analytics communities. It is one of the top competitions in the field of supercomputing.
