Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced its 2021 national and provincial list of major construction sites. This year, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) had four majors selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and one major selected as a provincial-level first-class major construction site.

The national first-class undergraduate major construction sites included chemistry, biological sciences, materials science and engineering, and computer science and technology, while the provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction site is in mechanical engineering.

SUSTech has been approved for nine national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites and four provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

Since its establishment, SUSTech has attached great importance to cultivating top talents. The construction of first-class majors and disciplines plays an important role in the nurturing of talents and scientific and technological development, and is committed to further enhancing its undergraduate programs.

To date, the University has a total of 37 undergraduate majors spanning five disciplines, including science, engineering, medicine, business, and management. SUSTech’s major disciplines are in science, engineering, and medicine, with additional concentrations in business, humanities, and social sciences.

The MOE launched the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” for the creation of first-class undergraduate courses in April 2019 with the aim to promote and strengthen first-class majors and cultivate first-class talents in undergraduate education.
