On June 17, 2022, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and the Dapeng New District Management Committee held a strategic cooperation agreement ceremony at the University.

Guangyang LIU, Secretary of the Dapeng New District CPC Party Working Committee, Jiliang WANG, Director of the General Office, and Wensheng CHEN, Deputy Director of the Management Committee, attended the event.

Members from SUSTech attending the signing ceremony included Fengliang LI, University Council Chairperson, Wensheng YAO, University Council Vice-Chairperson, and Susheng WANG, General Counsel and Director of the Office of Planning & Development.

Guangyang LIU acknowledged the achievements of SUSTech and spoke about the development of the Dapeng New District in recent years.

Through the signing of this cooperation agreement, he hopes that both parties will further strengthen collaboration in higher education, marine science and technology innovation, talent recruitment, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

Through this cooperation, he expects to make further advances in ocean science research in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and support SUSTech to carry out academic and relevant projects in Dapeng.

Chairperson Fengliang LI said that the Dapeng New District provides unique advantages and opportunities in the marine industry. The development of top-tier cities is closely linked to the support of first-class universities. He said that the signing of this cooperation agreement is a win-win for both parties.

He noted that SUSTech would cooperate with the Dapeng New District Management Committee in many areas, such as talent training, scientific research, technology transfer, basic education teaching in schools, and the joint construction of an ocean science research institute and a high-tech industrial base. At the same time, both parties will continue to collaborate in science and education integration and university-industry research.

Wensheng YAO said that the Dapeng New District has close ties with SUSTech and has already achieved success together in related fields, and looks forward to the two sides strengthening cooperation and contributing to national development and social progress.

Jian LIN, Chair Professor of the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering at SUSTech and the project leader of establishing the Shenzhen Ocean University, and Jiahong TANG, Principal of the SUSTech Experimental Education Group, gave brief reports on the construction of the Shenzhen Ocean University and the layout of the education group, respectively.

Susheng WANG and Wensheng CHEN signed the contract agreement as representatives of both parties. Before the signing ceremony, Guangyang LIU and his delegation also visited the SUSTech exhibition of development and achievements.
