Qun LI, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism and Head of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, Jiayou LONG, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Hua ZHANG, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson of SUSTech and Chairman of the Trade Union, Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost, Siqi CHEN, Secretary-General and Director of the Office of Party Affairs and Administration, and other members of the University’s leadership team held exchanges with the guests.

In his remarks, President Qikun XUE spoke about the progress of SUSTech and the archaeological sites on campus.

He said that SUSTech, as a new type of research university rooted in the special economic zone (SEZ), has always highlighted the University’s characteristics of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

President XUE hopes that with the guidance and support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the two sides would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, introduce more cultural tourism and cultural relics resources to SUSTech, empower scientific and technological innovation, and jointly explore the path of cultural tourism talent training and museum development in the University.

Qun LI acknowledged the rapid and high-quality development of SUSTech in recent years and the development of the University’s cultural relics exhibition and specimen database.

He said that the development of SUSTech’s campus culture had achieved remarkable results. He hopes the University will strengthen its relationship with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and further explore the development path of combining universities with cultural tourism and museums.
