The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the 5^th Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision (PRCV 2022) with some other universities from December 23 to December 26, 2022.

As one of the top academic conferences in the fields of pattern recognition and computer vision in China, PRCV 2022 is co-sponsored by four major academic societies of China: the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG), the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), the China Computer Federation (CCF), and the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA).

Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a welcome speech.

In his remarks, President Qikun XUE welcomed all attendees to PRCV 2022 and introduced SUSTech. He spoke about the University’s “Double First-class” construction and the development of scientific research in the field of computer science.

He pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key technology leading a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and is at the forefront of global scientific and technological competition.

President XUE said it was a great honor for SUSTech to host this event since PRCV 2022 bought together outstanding scholars and industry leaders in the field of pattern recognition and computer vision. He added that SUSTech welcomed collaborations with researchers all over the world, and hope to contribute more to the research in pattern recognition and computer vision.

A total of eight keynote speeches, eight invited talks, fourteen special sessions, four tutorials, eleven enterprise forums, eight oral sessions, and two poster sessions have been included in the conference program. PRCV 2022 received 564 full submissions. Based on the reviewers’ recommendation, 233 papers were finally accepted for presentation at the conference, comprising 40 oral presentations and 193 posters.

More than 900 researchers and industry leaders attended PRCV 2022 in a hybrid format, as almost 190,000 streamed the conference live online. Some professors from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SUSTech severed as the general chair, the program chair and the organization chair of the conference.
