Shiqing ZHAO, Member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) and Executive Chairman of Huaguang Shipping Holdings Co., Ltd. (Huaguang Shipping), led a delegation from the HKSOA to visit the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Li JIN, Vice President and Acting Dean of the College of Business, and heads of relevant departments held exchanges with the guests.

In his remarks, Vice President Li JIN emphasized that the development of green shipping in the future is inseparable from scientific and technological innovation and the transformation of achievements. He hopes to promote the integration of Shenzhen and Hong Kong through in-depth cooperation between universities and enterprises.

Shiqing ZHAO said that talents are the most important primary resource for the development of the marine industry, and hopes to further promote university-enterprise cooperation and contribute to Hong Kong’s shipping strength in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

After the meeting, Shiqing ZHAO and his delegation also participated in the first Future Green Shipping Competition awarding ceremony and held exchanges with students.

Zhenghe XU, Dean of the College of Engineering, Yongshun CHEN, Dean of the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering (OSE), and Qingsong LIU, Chair Professor of the Department of OSE, attended the event.

To help cultivate innovative talents in the marine industry, Huaguang Shipping sponsored the training of students in the Ocean Elite Class of SUSTech for the first time in 2022.

The visit of Huaguang Shipping and the HKSOA delegation is important to SUSTech to cultivate talents in the industry and promote the development of ocean and shipping activities in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
