On June 11, 2023, the 10^th “League Cup” Undergraduate English Writing Competition Final and award ceremony were held at the Guangzhou College of Technology and Business.

Three students from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) achieved outstanding results in the competition. Zi YE and Qiwen XIAO were awarded the Grand Prize in the non-English group, and Zixin ZHANG won the Second Prize in the same group.

The competition was jointly organized by the Advisory Committee for University English Teaching in Guangdong Province, the English Major Sub-Committee of the Advisory Committee for Foreign Language Majors in Guangdong Province, and the English Writing Teaching Alliance of Universities in China.

A total of 164,092 university students from 59 colleges and universities in Guangdong Province participated in the competition, with 272 advancing to the final.

The outstanding performance achieved by the three finalists from SUSTech reflects the English writing proficiency of students at the University and the achievements of its distinctive foreign language program.

The Center for Language Education (CLE) at SUSTech has been committed to deepening the reform of English writing teaching, aiming to enhance the English proficiency of its students, along with cultivating and discovering outstanding English talents.

They have achieved significant results by actively organizing faculty members and students to participate in various competitions and featured activities. In doing so, they have realized the spirit of improving education quality, cultivating internationalized and innovative talents in English teaching, enhancing the level of English instruction, and nurturing high-quality and outstanding talents.
