On June 27, Ana Menezes Cordeiro, Consul General of the Consulate General of Portugal in Guangzhou, and her delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, and Li JIN, Vice President and Acting Dean of the Business School, held exchanges with the guests.

In his remarks, President Qikun XUE briefly introduced the University’s philosophy, discipline structure, and development vision.

He expressed his desire to carry out multi-level and wide-ranging innovative cooperation with various Portuguese universities, enterprises, and institutions in areas such as talent training, scientific research, collaborative innovation, and cultural exchanges, to create new opportunities for cooperation and make more significant contributions to the strategic partnership between China and Portugal.

Ana Menezes Cordeiro acknowledged the rapid and high-quality development of SUSTech in recent years and outlined the current environment of Portuguese universities. She said that China and Portugal have a history of hundreds of years of friendship. Next year will mark the 10^th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities between Shenzhen and Porto.

She hopes to promote exchanges and collaboration between the two sides, and looks forward to SUSTech and Portuguese universities exploring cooperation in the areas of engineering, science and technology, internet, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and jointly writing a new chapter of the China-Portugal partnership.

Vice President Li JIN added that the University hopes to strengthen learning from Portugal in the field of ocean science, better protect and rationally utilize marine resources, and jointly deal with various challenges in the ecological environment.
