The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and the Linyi Municipal People’s Government recently held a strategic cooperation agreement ceremony.

The delegation from the Linyi Municipal People’s Government attending the event included Gang REN, Secretary of the CPC Linyi Municipal Committee, Baoliang ZHANG, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Linyi Municipal Committee and Mayor of Linyi City, and Shusheng ZHANG, Deputy Secretary of the Linyi Municipal Party Committee and President of Linyi University.

Members from SUSTech attending the signing ceremony included Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson, Siqi CHEN, Secretary-General and Director of the Office of Party Affairs and Administration, and Xumu ZHANG, Vice Dean of the College of Science and a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering.

In his remarks, Gang REN briefly introduced Linyi’s current state of affairs. He pointed out that the city has a complete industrial system and an innovative business environment, which can provide a full range of technology application scenarios, a multi-level scientific and technological innovation collaboration platform, and a high-efficiency innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

He hopes SUSTech will be able to provide more top talents, enhance achievements, and engage in Linyi’s scientific and technical innovation projects.

He added that the municipal party committee and government would make every effort to create the best conditions, provide high-level services, promote technology research and development, the transformation of achievements, talent training, and industrial guidance to achieve more substantive results, and create a demonstration model for university-local government cooperation and industry-education integration.

President Qikun XUE said that since its establishment, SUSTech has served local and national development strategies. It is committed to making the University a think tank in leading social development and a source of new knowledge and technologies.

In 2022, SUSTech, which has only been established for 12 years, was listed as a “Double First-Class” University. It became one of the youngest universities in the “Double First-Class” initiative, starting its new journey of building a world-class university.

The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement means that SUSTech and Linyi City have entered a new stage of in-depth exchanges and cooperation in key technology research, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and talent team building.

SUSTech will jointly build the SUSTech (Linyi) Industrial Technology Innovation Platform to explore and establish a new path for university-local government cooperation, and advance Linyi’s traditional industries and the high-quality development of strategic emerging industries.
