On August 2, Qikun XUE, President of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), and his delegation visited Midea Group’s research headquarters, and held discussions and exchanges on university-enterprise cooperation.

Hongbo FANG, Chairman and CEO of Midea Group Co., Ltd., and others attended the event.

At the meeting, Hongbo FANG introduced the history, innovation system, advantages and long-term vision of Midea Group, and acknowledged the achievements of SUSTech.

He emphasized that Midea Group has always regarded technological innovation and a talent team as the foundation of enterprise development. He looks forward to both sides further consolidating cooperation, conducting in-depth exchanges and collaboration in various fields, establishing a market demand-oriented research model, and providing a strong impetus for high-quality development.

President Qikun XUE spoke highly of Midea Group’s mission and responsibility as a domestic enterprise. He acknowledged Midea’s innovative strategy of transforming home appliances, equipment manufacturing, and carrying out global R&D and production layouts.

He said that cooperation between the two sides is an important measure to serve the strategic needs of the country and solve the key problems in the industry, and it is also the beginning of resource sharing and mutual benefits for both parties.

President XUE added that he hopes to strengthen technological cooperation and talent training, promote the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, and cultivate and develop strategic emerging industries.

Before the meeting, Qikun XUE gave a lecture at Midea’s Global Innovative Center.

Other members of SUSTech’s delegation included Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost, Li JIN, Vice President and Acting Dean of the Business School, Tianshou ZHAO, Dean of the Energy Institute for Carbon Neutrality, Jiansheng DAI, Dean of the Institute of Robotics, and heads of related departments.

Chang WEI, Chief Technology Officer of Midea Group, and Wenxin ZHAO, Chief Talent Officer of Midea Group, also attended the event.
