On August 11, Zeting JIANG, Secretary of the Party Committee at Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), and his delegation, which included Tianrui ZHAI, Vice President of BJUT, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson, Siqi CHEN, Secretary-General and Director of the Office of Party Affairs and Administration, Pengfei WANG, Member of the Presidential Executive Council and Director of the Preparatory Office of Affiliated Hospitals, and heads of related departments held discussions with the guests.

Zeting JIANG acknowledged the rapid and high-quality development of SUSTech, and introduced the current state of affairs of BJUT.

He said that as an experimental university for China’s higher education reform, SUSTech has an overall complete science framework, an innovative development model, and has attained remarkable achievements in the 13 years since its establishment. He said it is an incentive in BJUT’s reform and development to achieve “SUSTech speed”.

Mr. JIANG pointed out that the development goals of BJUT and SUSTech coincided with each other, and that from this visit, they will draw on SUSTech’s valuable experience and learn from its leapfrog achievements. He added that he looks forward to more exchanges with SUSTech in discipline construction, talent team building, and scientific research management.

In her remarks, Chairperson Hong JIANG briefly introduced SUSTech to the guests and explained how SUSTech took the road as a “new research university”.

SUSTech upheld its responsibility in reforming the country’s higher education, following its original mission, adhering to the innovation of systems and mechanisms, and laying a solid foundation for building a scientific research highland.

Chairperson JIANG noted that BJUT’s road to building a double-first-class university with distinctive qualities and distinguished development is of great significance and worth learning from, and looks forward to both parties further strengthening cooperation and exchanges.

The two universities held in-depth discussions and exchanges on the construction of interdisciplinary platforms, a management model for high-level talents, university-enterprise cooperation, and the layout of basic disciplines.

Zeting JIANG and his delegation were also given a tour of the University, visiting the SUSTech exhibition of development and achievements and other locations on campus.
