On August 21, undergraduate students from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) participated in the 2023 Robot Developer Competition (RAICOM) national finals.

After multiple rounds of competition, the participating team from SUSTech entered the national finals in the Raiders of the Lost Ark Semi-Automatic Competition Division, and won the Level Award, which is the first prize of the national finals.

The team was composed of undergraduate students Jincan LOU, Jianwei SUN, and Mufan TU, and the instructors were Associate Professors Wende KE, Dong LU, and Chengzhi HU, and Professor Yongsheng MA, all from the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering.

This competition was divided into two parts: Raiders of the Lost Ark and Spark Openharmony Competition. After passing the provincial round, 48 teams comprising of almost 100 participants were selected for the national finals.

During the competition, the three members of the SUSTech team developed a series of strategies, playing the roles of the operator, assistant decision-maker, and scout, respectively.

In the morning qualifying round, the students analyzed the situation, determined the competition plan, and successfully won all the games, ranking third in the standings.

In the afternoon session, the students adjusted their strategies and combined their plans to successfully defeat the other two competitors.

The RAICOM was sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is listed in the National College Student Competition List of the China Association of Higher Education, also known as the Ministry of Education White List Competitions.

Since its inception in 2015, RAICOM has been successfully held eight times.
