The 2023 International Congress on Ultrasonics (ICU) was recently held in Beijing.
Junxin GUO, Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), won the C.F. Ying (Chongfu Ying) Award for Young Ultrasonics Scholars, and was invited to present a report entitled “Effects of intrinsic anisotropy on seismic dispersion, attenuation, and frequency-dependent anisotropy” at the congress.
Junxin GUO is mainly engaged in the research of rock physics and rock mechanics. He has published 34 papers, including 25 as the first or corresponding author in renowned international journals such as the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth (JGR: Solid Earth), Geophysical Journal International (GJI), and Geophysics.
He is an editorial board member for the Journal of Geophysics and Engineering and Petroleum Science, and also serves as a long-term reviewer for Geophysical Research Letters, JGR: Solid Earth, Geophysics, GJI, and other journals.
The congress was organized and sponsored by the ICU International Organizing Committee, the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the Acoustical Society of China (ASC), and was co-sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Acoustical Society of America (ASA).
It is worth noting that the congress was held for the first time in China in the last 18 years.
The C.F. Ying Award is a special award honoring the esteemed Professor Chongfu YING, who was an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the founder and pioneer of ultrasonics research in China. It aims to reward outstanding young scholars under the age of 40 in the field of acoustics (ultrasonics).
